was sure that I lived in the most boring place in the world -- a
prune farm in the middle of nowhere. Since my family didn't
have the time or money to travel, I did my travelling through books.
I read everything I could get my hands on. Most of my books came
from the Geyserville Public Library, which was one tiny room served
by the county Bookmobile. I loved the place, especially on the day
after the Bookmobile came." |
Review: Oh my! You are in for some wild adventures when you open the book "Rising Water" by P.J. Petersen.
Meet Tracy and Luke, sister and brother team who volunteer at an animal rescue agency. In comes Kevin, who is assigned to volunteer his services to the agency as part of his "release" agreement because he was caught stealing a car.
Heavy winter rains have caused the levee to break and the town is flooded. The kids set out to help neighbors because they have a boat.
From here "Murphy's Law" takes hold and everything that can go wrong....does!!
The trio must fight the elements and their own fears and prejudices to get the job done. Compassion and caring play a big part of the problem solving that make this day a triumph for all.
