War Of The Rats By David L. Robbins
Review: I'll have to agree with many of the other reviewers on this one: This book is well worth the read. After reading Beevor's Stalingrad, I was gripped by the horror of that epic battle. David Robbins' version of events drew me even deeper into the quagmire of dread that was Stalingrad. He fleshes out the bones of long dead combatants and makes this a personal war where we actually come to know, and feel for, many of the players in this grim reality play. Robbins has woven a rich tapestry of fact and fiction so compelling that the reader has to step back and ask him or herself, "Where does truth end and fiction begin?" This is an excellent read and one worth recommending. — Reviewed by: Timothy
