Review: Mark Richards was falsely imprisoned for his wife’s murder but is released on a technicality six months later. Intent on proving his innocence and finding his wife’s killer, he returns to his executive position at Harris Development. CEO Melanie Harris has invested an entire career in carrying on the legacy of her father’s development company and building its reputation for excellence. She won’t stand by and allow that reputation to be tarnished by a murderer, the same man who killed her cousin Shauna. But Mark has inherited Shauna’s stock ownership which now makes him Melanie’s equal business partner. When structural defects are found in the construction of San Diego’s Grand Hotel, and the company is threatened with a lawsuit, Mark and Melanie must work side-by-side to investigate the source of the cutbacks, an investigation that puts them on the radar of the real killer and into the path of danger, even as they begin to discover feelings for each other. Their romance intensifies as Melanie begins to trust in Mark's innocence, and Mark takes it upon himself to become her personal protector.

What I enjoyed about this book was the way the author moves from character to character, linking them into the mystery, making it difficult to figure out who the killer could be. I also liked that there aren’t pages and pages of ongoing description. The details are woven into the story, giving a clear picture of the characters and their surroundings. Deadly Deceit is a romantic suspense that holds your interest throughout every page.
